Honestly, what's so wrong with your postwork here?
The stuff you're using and their positions are good - make them a little brighter, and they'll look cool.
Did you use some brushes for your spell effects here? If you did, play with the opacity a bit to make them a little more solid, or maybe place some more transparent brushes directly on top of each other to make them brighter. And if you still think they need more glow, just repaint their margins with a very small-sized brush in a light colour, and voilà - wonderful spell effects.
Don't shy away from postwork just because you think it could still look better - if you keep practising, you'll get there one day!
